President’s Message
I hope everyone had a good holiday and plenty of time to sew on projects, or begin new ones, or record ideas for one in your journal. I hope you have defined a ‘word’ for your year and recorded it somewhere, shared it with a friend, and will put it into practice every day of 2012. My word is ‘possibilities’...a word that is full of hope and ‘the cup is half full’ attitude about the days to be. I see the year unfolding day by day, each one full of possibilities to do and make and learn and share. Our guild offers many opportunities to do and make and learn and share. Please read the newsletter for the dates of upcoming programs and workshops. Don’t miss even one. Stretch yourself and learn a new technique. Design and make an apron that is all about ‘you.’ Make it as unique as you are. Then enter it in our Apron Challenge. We will start collecting them in April. Think about visiting a dozen quilting studios in which our members work and play on our Studio Tour - April 21st. Won’t that be fun? And then, as if that wasn’t enough to keep us all wiggling with smiles, there is our reinstated annual retreat at Camp Brotherhood on April 26th - 28th. All the slots are full, but you can come as a commuter, which means you spend the day with us, sleep at home, and come back the next day...for just $10 a day (meals extra)...and you KNOW we are going to have a hooting good time. Read the newsletter for more details and contact Kristi if you are interested.
And then there is a sincere thank you to all of you who gave up a day (or evening) to work on Comfort Quilts as we do in lieu of a meeting in January. We had fun, and who wouldn’t, in a room of fabric and friends? And, many quilts were made and are now ready to be quilted and given to their young recipients.
If you would like to read an uplifting book that will have you dancing a little jig right there in your living room, pick up a copy of “Succulent Wild Woman, Dancing with Your Wonderful Self!” by Sark. Have a good month, and I’m looking forward to seeing you are the next meeting on February 1. --Opal

PM MEETING February 2, 2012
Hi all....here we are survivors of the big snow...and hopefully the last snow. (Can you tell I am not a skier?) After living in CT for 15 years and living though loads of snow from Nor'Easters, you would think I might like that horrible white stuff....NOT SO....but, I did have fun trying some snow dyeing. You will have to try it... hopefully NEXT year.
Our usual evening meeting at the Methodist church at 6:30 on FEB 2 will feature Virginia Anderson and her wonderful quilts and great sense of humor. You won't want to miss her inspiring program.
Don't forget the treats so we don't starve.
Check Opal's letter for all our great activities, and sign up for something new and exiting. See you at the next meeting...Judy Irish
QUILT SHOW HELP NEEDED!
We are beginning to gather our committee chairs for our 2013 Quilt Show. It may sound early, but we want to be prepared and have things in place with plenty of time to get everything organized and done for another spectacular show.
We would like some names submitted for a title for our show...we only have a couple ideas at this point, and would like several more so we can put it to the membership for a vote on their favorite. We have a challenge idea all set....it should be a great one!
So, if you would like to head up a committee please let me know....and for all you creative folk, send me some ideas for a quilt show title.

We have some great studios scheduled for our tour. If you would like to be featured, please reply to this email and get your name on the map!

Five-Inch Trades
Bring your Kaffe Fassett or Westminster Fabric squares to the February AM or PM meeting. Mark your Ziploc bag with your name and phone number. You can submit more than one packet, if you like!
SUNSHINE:
I wish to remind all of you quilters to notify me when you hear of one of our members who is hurting and needs a little note to let them know that we are thinking of them. I send out get-well cards and also sympathy cards or anything else that would bring a few smiles. Please call Addie at 360-387-8002 or email me at addiemash@wavecable.com.
La Conner Quilt Museum offers Free Week!
The generous support of Guilds has always been invaluable to the La Conner Quilt & Textile Museum’s continued vitality and success. In recognition of this important relationship, the Museum is inaugurating an annual event, GUILD WEEK, in honor and celebration of our loyal Guild partners.
The first GUILD WEEK will be held at the Museum February 20-25, 2012. Members of all partner Guilds will receive free admission to the Museum during GUILD WEEK upon presentation of their Guild membership card (or inclusion on a Guild-supplied list of members for Guilds that do not issue membership cards). This will be a wonderful opportunity for members of our Guild partners to check out our current exhibits, meet staff and Board members, as well as learn more about Museum events, programs, and volunteer opportunities.
Welcome to Baby Mia Thornton!
We are happy to announce the arrival of Mia Thornton on December 10th! Both Mandi and Mia are doing great.
